Express Entry

Beginning January 2015, there will be foreign workers with skills who will have the chance at Express Entry. This new  form of electronic application will allow you to apply to Canada's main economic immigration program such as the CEC (Canadian Experience Class), FSTP (Federal Skilled Trades Program), and the FSWP (Federal Skilled Worker Program) as well as part of the PNP or Provincial Nominee Program.

Express Entry isn't something that is new to the immigration program, it just happens to be a new way for CIC or Citizenship and Immigration Canada to manage the economical immigration applications online. For many prospective foreign workers with a skill set, the express entry will allow for faster processing and it will make it simpler for a candidate to protect a job before they actually arrive, by matching them with Canadian employers.

Since everything is moving from the previous system, it is basically a first come, first serve basis. If you apply first, you will be the first in line to be processed. It normally takes, on average, 12 to 14 months and sometimes longer to begin to process the application to set up the permanent residence of Canada. With everything moving forward those who are more likely to actually succeed here in Canada, besides the first applicant, will be offered an invitation for them to register for citizenship. The express entry applicants will have a greater benefit when it comes to processing times under six months.

Express entry has various benefits. The territories/provinces can utilize the Express Entry applicants to find the right person for their PNP. What makes it better is that Canadian employers will be able to have a more direct as well as greater role when it comes to economical Canada immigration. The applicants that are part of the Express Entry pool may be given a chance to increase the likelihood of receiving an invitation to apply by directly promoting themselves to potential employers. The new Job Bank from the Government of Canada will help to connect the Express Entry applicants with Canadian employers, which will help to increase the speed of economic integration, once the immigrant arrives in Canada.

Since express entry only has a two-step process that makes everything go a little smoother.

Step one: The Express Entry Profile Online

If you plan to become a potential candidate, then express your interest in relocating to Canada by building your Express Entry profile that will be giving information about skills, language ability, work education, experience,  and other important information. If you want to be able to qualify to be a part of the Express Entry pool, then you must meet the needed requirements of at least one of the federal economical immigration  programs such as the FSWP, FSTP, or CEC.

If you do not recieve a Canadian job offer or the PNP then you will need to register with the Job Bank. You should promote yourself and signal your presence in the pool to potential employers, private sector job boards, recruiters, etc. You will receive a score in order to determine your place in the application pool by using the Comprehensive Ranking System, that will consider your work experience, education, skills, language ability, and many other factors to learn if you will be able to contribute to the economical success for you once you arrive in Canada. While you are in the application pool, you will have to update your profile regularly to show any changes in your status, such as family composition, education,  language, etc.

Step Two: Receiving Invitation to Apply(ITA)

If you are an express entry applicant, you can receive an ITA if that you has a valid job offer from a reputable Canadian employer only after it has been subjected to the Labor Market Impact Assessment that is used at that moment, if you receive a nomination by a territory or province, or you happen to be among the top rated people that are in the Express Entry applicant pool based on your education, experience, and skills.

If you receive an ITA, you will be given 60 days to submit your online application to receive a permanent residence in the FSWP, CEC, FSTP, or PNP. The CIC will begin to process most of the completed applications that are received withing six or less months.

For those who may be a potential candidate, you may qualify for the PNP as a portion of the express entry. This will allow territories and provinces to nominate a candidate that meets their regional labor market needs. When an Express Market applicant is nominated through the PNP, they will be invited to apply for permanent residence of Canada.

There are a few things that you should keep in mind. Any potential candidate is not actually required to hire an immigration representative to apply for Express Entry. You will be able to submit your Education Credential Assessments, if you completed your education outside of Canada and you would like to be given points that count on your Express Entry score and valid language test results. Although if you are unsure of how to go about filling out the needed forms or have questions. You can fill out a online form to receive great information and even have a one-on-one consultation about apply for permanent residency.

Your express entry profile is good for one year. If you haven't received an ITA after a 12 month period, you will be able to reapply and reenter the express entry pool if they still meet the needed requirements.

So what should you do now?

With New Express Entry you will be able to access the more modern Job Bank and the CIC will continue to contact Canadian employers and stakeholders to gather feedback on the system and continue to work on improving it.
